Hao Hohl lebte bis 2005 in China. Als Reporterin, Regisseurin, Produzentin und Chefredakteurin hat sie das Fernsehen in vielen Facetten geprägt. Parallel dazu veröffentlichte sie mehrere Bücher. Mit Abschlüssen in Psychologie, Medienwissenschaft und Englisch sowie Weiterbildungen in Filmproduktion und Unternehmensführung verbindet sie Fachwissen, Kreativität und ein feines Gespür für Menschen und Geschichten.
2020 wurde ihr erster Kinodokumentarfilm «Plötzlich Heimweh» für den PRIX DU PUBLIC der 55. Solothurner Filmtage nominiert.
Seit 2006 lebt Hao Hohl im Appenzellerland, und arbeitet als Kuratorin und Stiftungsrätin der Ernst Hohl-Kulturstiftung Appenzell im Haus Appenzell in Zürich. 2019 gründete sie die Filmproduktionsfirma HAO Production.
Hao Hohl lived in China until 2005. As a reporter, director, producer, and editor-in-chief, she has shaped television in many of its facets while also publishing several books. With degrees in psychology, media studies, and English, and additional studies in film production and business management, she combines expertise, creativity, and a keen sensitivity to people and stories.
In 2020, her first feature-length documentary “Suddenly Homesickness” was nominated for the PRIX DU PUBLIC (Audience Award) at the 55th Solothurn Film Festival.
Since 2006, Hao Hohl has lived in Appenzell and works as curator and board member of the Ernst Hohl Cultural Foundation Appenzell at Haus Appenzell in Zurich. In 2019, she founded the film production company HAO Production.
Hao Hohl a vécu en Chine jusqu’en 2005. En tant que journaliste, réalisatrice, productrice et rédactrice en chef, elle a marqué le paysage télévisuel sous de nombreuses facettes. Parallèlement, elle a publié plusieurs ouvrages. Titulaire de diplômes en psychologie, en sciences des médias et en anglais, ainsi que de formations complémentaires en production cinématographique et en gestion d’entreprise, elle allie expertise, créativité et une fine sensibilité aux personnes et à leurs histoires.
En 2020, son premier long métrage documentaire « Soudain, le mal du pays » a été nommé pour le PRIX DU PUBLIC lors de la 55e édition des Journées de Soleure.
Depuis 2006, Hao Hohl vit dans le pays d’Appenzell, où elle travaille comme curatrice et membre du conseil de la Fondation culturelle Ernst Hohl à la Maison Appenzell à Zurich. En 2019, elle a fondé la société de production HAO Production.
